preparation
It is essential to prepare as much as possible before you reach the school/hall/venue where the workshop will take place, especially now with how different things are in the pandemic.
You must have details of the latest guidance in relation to covid-19 and PPE, both from the Government as well as and from the group/venue where you will be delivering the workshops.
Checklists can be found here, including the points below, which will help you to be as prepared as possible.
Information about the venue and participants
It is important to have as much information as possible before attending the room/hall where you will be.
How big is the room? Is it possible to open any windows? Can the door be left open?
If you’re unfamiliar with the space where you will be working, make sure you have enough information about it. Are you able to visit beforehand?
Regarding the participants – how many will be attending? Do you have enough room in the room/hall? Does anyone in the group have additional needs? How can you adapt your plans to support every participant?
Delivery methods
We started each session with the game ‘Make a Bubble’, where everyone will create a space for themselves within the room.
We used rubber spots on the floor a metre apart, where the participants could sit or stand, to ensure they stayed far enough apart while we worked.
Will you use hand sanitiser? Face masks? It is important to consider these issues, and to follow the latest guidance from the Government and from the group where the workshop is being delivered.
Decide on a particular area at the end of the room, from which the leader will deliver the workshop.
We are grateful for Bòrd na Gàidhlig’s support of this project through the Covid Support Fund.
