        "rendered": "<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">LAS is there to help Gaelic artists take a step forward with a new theatre project. With the support of our team, and a budget for expenses, artists spend time developing an idea for a new theatre piece.The scheme is open to different forms and styles of project &#8211; from a new script, children&#8217;s work, music for theatre, dance and more &#8211; as long as it is aimed at a live audience at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025 we added Lasag to this development scheme, for earlier stage ideas, which may not be quite ready for Las. It gives them a small budget to do some research or consideration to take their idea forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">It is important that artists are given the opportunity to try new things, play with ideas and work out what might happen with them. Maybe you will even see these projects on stage one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\">APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons eplus-wrapper is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button eplus-wrapper\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/theatreguleor.com\/en\/gairmlas\/\">GO TO THE OPPORTUNITY PAGE <\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">Deadline for applications: <strong>10am, Thursday 15th January 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\">Artists<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group information_dropdowns has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-container-core-details-is-layout-c6aab7f7 wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>The Las scheme is currently supporting:<\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>David Walker \u2013 The Sound of Iron<\/strong><br>Research and writing about the true story of M\u00e0iri, who came to work in Glasgow driving cranes during the Second World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Robbie MacLeod \u2013 Hinba<\/strong><br>The next stage of development to rewrite a play about an island that has emerged among the Outer Hebrides due to climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Angus MacLeod \u2013 Annag Christie<\/strong><br>A new version of Eugene O\u2019Neill\u2019s play, moving the drama from the Ame<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-container-core-details-is-layout-c6aab7f7 wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Through the Lasag scheme we are supporting:<\/summary>\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Catriona Murray<\/strong><br>Research for a new play about the New York Highlands in the 1920s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rhiannon Ledwell<\/strong><br>Development of a performance that weaves together Gaelic music, stories and songs from India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Martin O\u2019Connor &amp; Chloe Shimmin<\/strong><br>Development for workshops with primary school children in Glasgow and the Isle of Man, to build connections between the two communities.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-container-core-details-is-layout-c6aab7f7 wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Artists and projects that have previously received support from the Las scheme:<\/summary>\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Calum MacLeod<\/strong><br>A new theatre piece based on the story of the Megantic Outlaw, but told through the eyes of a female bounty hunter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>D\u00e9irdre N\u00ed Mhath\u00fana \u2013 Tairm fo Sg\u00e0il<\/strong><br>Playing with drama, sound, poetry and video to bring the voices of Gaelic women singers to life for a modern audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DS Murray<\/strong><br>To expand on a play about the life and death of Donald MacKinnon, who was captain of the clipper \u2018Taeping\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Martin MacIntyre \u2013 Bampot Joe<\/strong><br>A new play about Joe, his bilingualism and how he comes to terms with his differences in each language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kat Siebert<\/strong><br>A play set in a future where Gaelic is the main language of Scotland. The story explores issues of immigration and identity.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>",
