Fair Work

Theatre Gu Leòr has committed to adhere to the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First policy, which is also adopted by Creative Scotland.

We have been awarded Living Wage Employer accreditation, and we use freelance contracts from Equity and Scottish Society of Playwrights to ensure our staff are paid fairly.

Regular meetings are held between staff and managers so that questions or concerns can be raised and suggestions put forward. Trade unions such as Equity and Cairn are invited to hold meetings with freelance staff working on our projects in order to communicate the benefits of membership.

Our job adverts are advertised far and wide when we have vacancies at the company, and we have an open, flexible and fair recruitment process. Every year we offer work experience opportunities including paid placements to people who wish to enter theatre work to create pathways for young people and those new to the sector. We also abide by Equity guidelines on casting.

We make every effort to create a healthy working environment for our team. Our roles are flexible with regard to working hours and location and we have a robust Grievance and Disciplinary Procedure which is included with all work contracts.
